Settling in with the news

So it’s not been an easy few weeks, but we’re getting more and more used to our fate. My boss called my office and asked, “So has your situation changed at all?” I told her, “It’s changed in the respect that now Mark has ordered new uniforms and gear.” And he already received a good chunk of that this week. So many people, including some other military wives, have suggested maybe it will change. I am a realist. I know this is what we have to deal with and grow from.

Mark has exact training dates, and I was bummed when I saw them. I’m hoping he can change them a bit yet…he’s basically gone January 15. He’s got a week home in February and two weekends before Iraq.

On the way home from watching the Pittsburgh and Cards games, we started creating the extensive list of things that we have to do between now and when he leaves for training in January. The amount of things we have to do to prepare for the move and to have all of our ducks in a row while he is gone is insane. We’ll probably both take a day off work to try and knock out the paperwork side of everything.

In the mean time, we’re trying to plan for the future while living in the present…not an easy task when we have such a huge life change looming in the future. But we’re surviving…for now. =)
